This is a traditional Japanese style of friction folder. It is extremely simple as far as the mechanism. It is folded brass with a stainless pivot and the blade is riding on phosphorus bronze washers making a very smooth pivot. The blades on these are made from three different types of damascus steel. They come with a hand sewn leather pocket slip.
