Integral Backpacker (SOLD OUT)
This blade will be great for any hunting, camping, hiking, or fishing use. The blade is hand forged from 3/4" round bar of W1 tool steel which is a very consistent and reliable steel. The blade has a Hamon finish which is originally a Japanese technique used for Samurai swords. The process is taking some clay and putting it on the spine with "fangs" going down into the blade and quenching the blade with that clay on it. This creates a soft spine and a hard edge giving it more ductility/flexibility in battle. The "fangs" were put in to give a more integrated transition between the soft steel and hard steel. I love the aggressive look it gives a blade! The handle has an integral bolster, meaning that I have forged the blade from a round stock and left a part in the middle to become part of the handle. The wood is Green Dyed Curly Maple that has been curved into the bolster and it is pinned with copper pins and a tube perfect for a lanyard. A perfect blade for taking out with you on hikes and hunting trips.
