Tiger Claw Tanto (Hamon) SOLD OUT
This is my latest model based on the Japanese design style of their swords and knives. It is a very clean, simple and elegant design that allows the materials, grinds, and finishes to speak louder. I have christened these the “Tiger Claw Tantos” because I was inspired by a Japanese style painting of a Bengal Tiger. Throughout the knife you can see this come through. I have engraved a tiger stripe finger texture on the spine and a little tiger paw on the spine as well. The knife comes with a medallion/challenge token with the Tiger on one side and the knife on the other to have as part of your collection.
This tanto is forged from W2 Tool steel with a hamon finish which was actually invented by the Japanese to make their swords more durable in battle. I put clay on the spine and quenched it to keep the spine soft and the edge hard. This creates a beautiful line that distinguishes the hardness that can be brought out by etching and polishing. I love how much this one harkens back to the Japanese artistry. The handle is African Blackwood pinned with 1/4” Stainless pins and has a stippled middle section to give it texture and interest. This knife will come with a handmade leather pocket sheath with an ulticlip to keep it at the top of the pocket.
*Please Allow for up to 3 business days before shipping. The knife may ship sooner but we are a small operation (my wife and I) and can’t always compete with big corporation shipping speeds.
